Many years ago, back when I had the time for role-playing games on a weekly basis, a friend of mine began running Shadowrun, a pen and paper rpg whose world is a terrific blend of sci-fi and fantasy. It was easily the most fun I've ever had in a role-playing game.
Fast forward to earlier this year, and here I am being hired as a freelancer for Catalyst Game Labs (Shadowrun's current owner) to do illustrations of the same world I had so much fun playing in!
I was asked to do some pieces to give them an idea of how well I could interpret the already well fleshed-out world of Shadowrun in my own style. This piece was based on one of the art director's prompts, a dwarf hacking into computer equipment for data while an elf in a chameleon suit is helping himself to one of his drives. This piece was very challenging, yet also great fun, and I think it's probably what landed me the job.
